OCA promotes Asian sport games in Phuket

BANGKOK, 21 October 2011  – The Olympics Council of Asia (OCA) launched the Mini Fun Run Competition in front of Patong beach, Phuket to promote the readiness of the Asian Games 2014 hosted by the city of Incheon, Korea.

More than 500 Thai students, youths and foreigners attended this competition. On this occasion, the OCA is also arranging a preparatory meeting on various sport games to be held in different regions of Asia. Held on 21-22 October 2011, the meeting will bring together the host countries of the Asian Beach Games, the Asian Games as well as other games and the 27 member countries to acknowledge the progress and the rule adjustment of each competition. The meeting will also lead to the preparedness of OCA’s games including the Olympics Games.

Mr Kanokphan Julkasem, Director of the Sports Authority of Thailand, said that the reason of arranging the promotional activities in Phuket is to arouse the enthusiasm of each member country for their participation. The promotional activities are scheduled to be launched in each member country. Thailand, as the host of Asian Beach Games 2014, will also arrange this kind of activities in other countries.
