BANGKOK, 28 June 2015 (NNT) – Members of a committee under the National Reform Council have travelled to the eastern province of Rayong to meet and collect opinions of the locals.

Rayong deputy governor Tassana Vichaithanapat on Saturday chaired a seminar which was titled “The Development of the East’s Economics and Trade” and took place at Golden City Rayong Hotel.

The seminar was organised by the NRC’s committee on the reform or agriculture, industry, commerce, tourism and services, in their wish to hear the opinions of locals while offering them speeches and debates from noted speakers who represent various local agencies.

Spokesman and secretary to the committee Tanit Sorat pointed out that the eastern region has been benefiting from the exports of agricultural products and from the food processing industries while being the host of key industrial estates.

He added that the region has also been blessed with magnificent geographical quality and rich marine natural resources, both of which have brought about robust trade, service and tourism businesses but local farmers remain poor because of falling agricultural prices.

Mr. Tanit went on to say that Thailand needs to speedily find effective and integrated solutions to solve all problems while achieving economic, trade, agricultural and industrial developments in a sustainable manner, particularly when the regional integration of ASEAN Economic Community is about to come into effect later this year.
