BANGKOK, June 10 — Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha, Army chief and head of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), will talk to Thai ambassadors and other foreign-based diplomats and update Thailand’s gestures and its foreign policy towards varied countries.

Sek Wannamethee, Director General of the Department of Information and Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman, said 23 ambassadors and consuls-general are invited to tomorrow’s meeting, including diplomats posted to Washington DC, Berlin, Brussels, Rome, Madrid and Tokyo.

After the NCPO took control of national administration in Thailand, some countries responded with negative reactions to the coup.

NCPO deputy spokesman Col Winthai Suvaree said Gen Prayuth hopes to gather information from the diplomats and adjust Thailand’s diplomatic gestures and NCPO strategies.

Col Weerachon Sukhonthapatiphak, another NCPO deputy spokesman, said he proposed that Gen Prayuth hold a dinner talk with foreign correspondents to create more understanding.

The spokesman also said that authorities still must closely check the IP addresses of social media users to create a reconciliatory atmosphere as negative political comments were being posted using social media.

Such users included the so-called Seh Nam-ngern, the Blue Chief-of-Staff, who continues to actively post his political comments on websites.
