BANGKOK, 16 April 2015 – The National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC) plans to increase the number of registration service counters for prepaid card mobile phone users. The service is free of charge.
According to NBTC Deputy Secretary General Korkij Damchaivichit, the NBTC is considering setting up a counter service at local administrative offices and 7-11 stores across Thailand.
If the service counters are set up in these places, all the prepaid card users throughout the country will be able to register their numbers by the end of July as required.
More than 18 million prepaid numbers have been registered so far, averaging 200,000 numbers per day. The Deputy Secretary General emphasized that the registration process is completely free.
The remaining prepaid numbers users will have their phone and internet services suspended unless they have their numbers registered before August 1st.
