
NAKHON PHANOM, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation Professor Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat visited Nakhon Phanom University on July 12, 2026, to deliver operational policies and review regional development initiatives. He was welcomed by University Council Chairman Dr. Sathit Limpongpan and University President Emeritus Professor Thawatchai Supadit at the Sri Khotrabun Building in Mueang Nakhon Phanom district.
During the visit, university executives presented progress on key development plans, including establishing a Faculty of Medicine, advancing a regional Wellness Hub, and promoting research and innovation tailored to local needs. The presentations underscored the university’s role in enhancing the quality of life and supporting the grassroots economy in Nakhon Phanom and neighboring provinces. In response, the deputy prime minister outlined strategic directives for the university’s future development. He encouraged the institution to use technology and innovation to maximize the value of local cultural and natural resources, emphasizing that regional universities should help reduce social inequality and drive sustainable economic growth in local communities.
