NACC expedites investigation into more than 2,000 cases in Northeast

UDON THANI, 3 July 2015 – Member of the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) Wicha Mahakhun has confirmed the NACC is urgently processing more than 2,000 cases in the northeastern region. Most of the cases involve bribery and fraud in public procurement.

Mr. Wicha said during the NACC’s seminar in Udon Thani on Friday that the NACC was investigating the cases no matter which side the defendants were on. The NACC was also trying to inform all groups of people of the facts about the cases which involved local administrative organizations and government units in 20 northeastern provinces, he said.

The NACC organized the seminar aimed at strengthening anti-corruption networks at the provincial level on 3 July 2015 in Udon Thani province. The seminar was attended by NACC Chairman Panthep Klanarongran, Mr. Wicha as well as representatives of provincial NACC offices in the Northeast.

417 out of 2,492 cases in the Northeast had been closed, said Mr. Wicha.
