MSDHS rolls out nationwide support services for Songkran travelers

The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, led by Minister Nikorn Soemklang, has deployed nationwide support measures for Songkran, including “MSDHS Rest Stops” offering facilities and assistance for travelers and vulnerable groups throughout the holiday period.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security has reaffirmed its commitment to public welfare during Songkran by preparing nationwide support services for vulnerable groups and the general public.

​Minister of Social Development and Human Security Nikorn Soemklang stated that Songkran 2026, the Thai New Year, includes several consecutive public holidays, as well as National Elderly Day on April 13 and Family Day on April 14. On behalf of the Ministry, he extended well wishes to all citizens and encouraged families to spend quality time together to strengthen family bonds in Thai society.



​The Minister also urged travelers to prioritize safety, drive cautiously, and avoid alcohol consumption to help prevent accidents during the holiday period.

​The Minister added that the Ministry has implemented comprehensive support measures for vulnerable groups, including children, youth, older persons, persons with disabilities, and the general public. Provincial MSDHS teams have established “MSDHS Rest Stops” along main and secondary roads, offering services until April 19, 2026.


​These rest stops offer accessible restrooms for older persons and persons with disabilities, temporary parking, relaxation areas, refreshments, and guidance on social welfare rights in accordance with the Ministry’s mandate.
