BANGKOK, Thailand – Following the announcement from the Bureau of the Royal Household, mourners across Thailand have been donning black and traveling to Chulalongkorn Hospital to pay their respects to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother. Many gathered outside Bhumisiri Mangkhalanusorn Building, where Her Majesty had been receiving medical treatment, to express their grief and remembrance.
From the early morning hours, crowds filled the hospital grounds to listen to the official announcement confirming Her Majesty’s passing. Many said they had learned the news the previous night and came together in groups, united by a shared sense of loss and devotion.
Mourners stood in silence, looking toward the building that had housed Her Majesty’s care, while some carried portraits and flowers as tributes. Many spoke of Her Majesty’s lifelong dedication to the Thai people and her compassion, which they said will continue to inspire future generations.
Throughout the day, citizens arrived continuously, with some bringing photographs and personal keepsakes from moments when they had once met Her Majesty. Others prayed quietly, reflecting on her life’s work in improving the lives of people across the country.
Across Thailand, flags were lowered, and moments of mourning were observed in temples, government offices, and homes. (NNT)
