More than 800 wanted persons arrested by region 1 police over the weekend

SAMUTPRAKAN, 30 April 2013 The Region 1 Provincial Police has been able to arrest as many as 800 people, who were charged with various criminal offenses, over the weekend.

Royal Thai Police Commissioner Adul Saengsingkaew has confirmed the work of the police in 9 provinces, which was carried out on April 27 and 28. The officials were able to seize 13,678 Meth pills, 211 grams of Ice, 60 grams of marijuana and a quantity of other narcotics. 48 handguns and 9 rifles were also seized, along with 252 bullets.

Police Lieutenant General Nares Nantachoke, the commissioner of region 1 police, revealed that most of those apprehended were wanted under existing arrest warrants. Their charges included dealings in narcotics, weapons, influential figures, guns for hire, care jacking, motorcycle jacking and human trafficking.

Notable arrests were made in the cases of murder and dismembering of a bank employee, stealing of artifacts in Chainat, and robbing of passengers’ belongings by a van driver.
