
BANGKOK, Thailand – Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow met with H.E. Mr. Issa Abdullah Jaber Al Alawi, Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to Thailand.
The Foreign Affairs Minister expressed appreciation to Oman for assisting the 20 Thai crew members of the vessel Mayuree Naree. He requested additional support to tow the vessel, which ran aground in Iranian waters, and to bring the human remains found on board ashore for identification and repatriation to Thailand.
Both sides discussed the ongoing situation in the Middle East and explored cooperation to facilitate the passage of essential Thai cargo vessels through the Strait of Hormuz at the earliest opportunity. They agreed that all parties should return to diplomacy and dialogue to de-escalate tensions in the region as soon as possible. (NNT)
