BANGKOK, Thailand – Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, has announced a reduction in the electricity tariff for the January-April 2025 billing cycle. The current average rate of 4.18 baht per unit, applied from September to December 2024, will decrease to 4.15 baht per unit. This adjustment is intended to ease the cost of living and serve as a New Year’s gift for Thai citizens.

Minister Pirapan shared that the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has approved the reduction for the upcoming billing cycle. He noted that he had asked relevant agencies to look for ways to further lower the tariff to help ease the public’s financial burden. He expressed gratitude to the ERC, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), and PTT Public Company Limited (PTT) for their cooperation in making this possible.

The ERC finalized its decision on November 27, following a public consultation process. The revised Fuel Adjustment Charge (Ft) and the new electricity tariff were set at 4.15 baht per unit for the January-April 2025 period. This decision was based on a detailed review of projections and relevant data.

An official announcement from the ERC is expected soon, offering relief to both households and businesses nationwide. (NNT)
