BANGKOK, Thailand – The Ministry of Culture has unveiled plans for this year’s Loy Krathong Festival under the theme “Loy Krathong Thai Style: Safe, Environmentally Friendly, and in Thai Traditional Dress.” The main celebration will take place on November 5 at Wat Arun Ratchawararam in Bangkok, promoting culture, community, economy, and environmental responsibility.
Culture Minister Sabeeda Thaised said the 2025 celebration will blend traditional Thai heritage with the concept of “Culture for Sustainability,” promote Royal Thai Attire—eight styles for women and three for men—and advance the Loy Krathong tradition for future nomination to UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The Department of Cultural Promotion will organize the Bangkok event in collaboration with the Royal Thai Navy, Wat Arun, Thai Beverage Public Co., Ltd., and Thai Group Holdings Public Co., Ltd. Additional celebrations will be held in 18 provinces representing local traditions and in five provinces recognized for their unique cultural identities.
The Ministry encourages the public to wear traditional Thai dress, celebrate Loy Krathong safely, and support environmental conservation as a way to build community pride and showcase Thai culture as a vibrant, sustainable way of life. (NNT)
