Koh Samui has been recognized as the world’s top island for 2026, highlighting its beaches, culture, cuisine, and appeal to international travelers.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Koh Samui has been named the World’s Best Island for 2026 in the “World’s Best Awards 2026” by international travel magazine “Travel + Leisure.” The southern island earned a reader score of 95.64, ranking ahead of destinations including the Maldives, Bali, and Milos. The recognition, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, showcases Koh Samui’s combination of scenic landscapes, cultural heritage, and culinary experiences, attracting visitors from around the world.



Following the accolade, the government said it will continue to improve visitor safety, upgrade public infrastructure, and increase enforcement against illegal nominee businesses and other unlawful activities to provide a safe, high-quality, and sustainable travel experience. The ministry said it will also continue to promote sustainable tourism and enhance visitor services on Koh Samui to preserve the island’s appeal and support the long-term growth of Thailand’s tourism industry. (NNT)
