BANGKOK, Thailand – Justice Minister Pol Lt Gen Rutthaphon Naowarat has outlined six core policies to steer the Ministry of Justice, setting priorities for law enforcement, public services, and system reform. He presented the framework to senior executives this week, linking it to the government’s recent policy statement to Parliament, which called for governance rooted in fairness, transparency, and the rule of law.
Pol Lt Gen Rutthaphon directed all agencies under the ministry to accelerate their work and deliver results within six months. He made clear that the mission is to ensure people can access justice quickly, fairly, and equitably while strengthening confidence in the justice system.
The policy framework includes adopting royal guidance in public service, cracking down on illegal gambling and cybercrime, and intensifying drug suppression to improve safety in families and communities. It also prioritizes expanding legal aid and victim support, modernizing laws and judicial processes to meet international standards, and enhancing rehabilitation programs to help offenders reintegrate into society and reduce the likelihood of repeat offenses.
Officials said the approach strikes a balance between enforcement and the protection of rights. Legal assistance and victim remedies will also be expanded, while correctional facilities will place greater emphasis on rehabilitation and stability after release. (NNT)
