YASOTHON, Thailand – A homemade Bang Fai rocket from Roi Et crashed through a fifth-grade classroom at Ban Kui Tap Tao School in Yasothon, embedding itself over 30 centimeters deep into the ground.

The impact shattered the roof and floor, scattering debris.

Teacher Lalita Kimhanta, 29, was just a meter away when the rocket hit. She heard a loud sound and saw sparks before fleeing.

Fortunately, no students were present, as classes had been suspended earlier that morning due to another rocket landing on the school roof. Teachers, however, remained on duty.

The incident stems from over 1,000 homemade rockets launched at the annual Bun Bang Fai festival in Phanom Phrai, Roi Et province, an area only four kilometers from the school and a known landing zone. Such incidents are a regular occurrence in the village. (TNA)

Teacher Lalita recalls hearing a loud explosion and seeing sparks just moments before fleeing the classroom. Thankfully, no students were present during the rocket strike.
