Health Ministry introduces 6 measures for bomb victims

BANGKOK, 19 August 2015 -The Ministry of Public Health is implementing 6 measures to help those affected by the explosion at the Ratchaprasong intersection on Monday. 

According to Deputy Health Minister Dr. Somsak Chunharas, a war room meeting has recently been held to determine how the victims of the bomb attack could be compensated.

The Ministry has introduced 6 measures, which include providing quick access for family of the victims to information via www.moph.go.th in both Thai and English. They will be able to check the identities of those killed or injured in the attack through a single 24 hour hotline at 02-5901994.

The transport of the dead victims, both Thai and foreigners, will be taken care of by the Thai government. Those injured in the explosion will receive medical treatment they need regardless of their entitlement restrictions.

Every hospital caring for the victims is obligated to provide treatment indiscriminately and to the full extent of its medical ability. They shall receive financial compensation according to the law.

The Ministry of Public Health will also issue a medical card for those with symptoms that may need longer treatment.

The Department of Mental Health will assure the mental welling being of the family members of the dead and survivors until they are able to overcome their fear and grief.
