KAMPHAENG PHET, Thailand – Kamphaeng Phet Governor Chathip Ruchanaseree and provincial authorities are coordinating the emergency response following a firearm incident at a secondary school in Kamphaeng Phet Province on September 2. No injuries were reported, and authorities safely apprehended the 15-year-old boy suspected of bringing the firearm onto school grounds and discharging it at approximately 2:20 p.m. School administrators immediately implemented lockdown protocols, securing students in their classrooms.
Governor Chathip and Deputy Governor Sawanit Suriyakul Na Ayudhaya led the on-site response with local police, administrative officials, teachers, and rescue workers. After securing the premises, officials evacuated students and reunited them with parents outside the facility. Police transferred the suspect to the local station, where a multidisciplinary team will assist with the investigation and juvenile legal proceedings. To support recovery and reassure the community, the school director announced a two-day suspension of on-site classes. Students will transition to online learning before regular operations resume.
