BANGKOK, 24 April 2013 The Government’s earnings in the first half of the 2013 fiscal year amounted to over THB 950 billion, while budget disbursement rose to THB 1.37 trillion.

Fiscal Policy Office (FPO) Director-General Somchai Sujjapongse, in his capacity as Commerce Ministry spokesman, disclosed that the government earned a total revenue of approximately THB 957 billion over the 6-month period from October 2012 to March 2013.

The figure saw an increase of THB 145 billion or 17.9 percent over the same period of the 2012 fiscal year.

The increased earnings primarily came from an extra collection of value-added tax and automobile tax as a result of the government’s first car scheme, reflecting the country’s economic expansion.

Meanwhile, the government’s budget disbursement in the same period also jumped to THB 1.37 trillion, up 8.1 percent or THB 102 billion.
