BANGKOK, Thailand – The Ministry of Commerce has launched an urgent initiative to increase revenue for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by supporting local creators in selling high-quality, self-manufactured products on leading digital platforms. Director-General of the Department of Business Development, Poonpong Naiyanapakorn, highlighted the importance of the three-month “Thais Help Thais: Boosting SME Revenue” campaign, launched on June 4, 2026, by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Suphajee Suthumpun. He emphasized that the campaign is a top priority for the ministry to support local businesses amid regional economic challenges.
The initiative targets manufacturers who produce their own goods, with a focus on certified products such as Geographical Indication (GI) items, innovative agricultural goods, certified organic products, and items verified by the Department of Foreign Trade. In the short term, the project aims to generate immediate revenue growth through strategic digital partnerships. The Ministry of Commerce has partnered with Thailand Post’s “ThailandPostMart” platform to provide free shipping for buyers and sellers. The department has also collaborated with i-Net’s “NextGen” platform, which will waive all gross profit commission fees for participating businesses.
Approximately 2,000 entrepreneurs have already joined the campaign, and officials are confident that the broader Thais Help Thais Plus framework will significantly increase merchant sales. In the long term, the ministry expects the campaign to strengthen digital brand awareness for small businesses and help local creators achieve self-reliance in the digital economy. The Director-General also announced the next phase of SME development, which will focus on sustainable skill enhancement. The Department of Business Development will provide structured capacity-building courses through its e-Learning portal to help Thai entrepreneurs strengthen their digital skills and remain competitive.
