
NONG BUA LAMPHU, Thailand – A military funeral has been held at Wat Sila Pattanaram in Na Klang district, Nong Bua Lamphu province, for Sergeant Sarawut Namsawat, who was killed in action during a confrontation along the Thai–Cambodian border. The ceremony was presided over by Nong Bua Lamphu Governor Surasak Aksornkul.
Sergeant Sarawut served as a fire team leader with Company 8021, 1st Battalion, 8th Infantry Regiment. He was deployed on border security duty when he lost his life defending Thailand’s sovereignty amid ongoing clashes.
Troops from his unit took part in the Royal Bathing Rite, held in honor of his service. Family members and fellow soldiers paid tribute during the ceremony.
His demise comes as tensions along the border continue, with the military honoring his sacrifice as a symbol of duty, courage, and unwavering service in defense of the nation’s sovereignty. (NNT)
