BANGKOK, Thailand – The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) has reported positive outcomes from its participation in Gastech 2025, held from 9 to 12 September 2025 in Milan, Italy. During the event, the ERC emphasized its leadership in advancing the liberalization of Thailand’s natural gas market. This includes promoting transparent and fair competition, encouraging new market participants, reducing energy costs, improving gas procurement efficiency, and supporting the transition to clean energy.
Gastech 2025 provided an international platform for the ERC to exchange knowledge and policy perspectives with global partners, with a particular focus on liquefied natural gas and the broader energy transition. The Commission showcased Thailand’s key initiatives, including the implementation of the Third Party Access framework. This policy ensures that all gas operators can access national gas infrastructure, such as pipelines and liquefied natural gas terminals, on equal terms. This approach aims to create a more competitive and open natural gas market in Thailand.
In addition to presenting these policy and project milestones, the ERC engaged with energy regulators and industry leaders from around the world. These discussions explored innovations, emerging technologies, and regulatory strategies that support carbon neutrality goals and the use of artificial intelligence in energy management. The insights gained from these exchanges are expected to enhance Thailand’s energy security, lower energy costs, and improve the reliability of energy supply.
The ERC’s participation in Gastech 2025 also served as important preparation for Thailand’s upcoming role as host of Gastech 2026. The event, which will take place from 15 to 18 September 2026 in Bangkok, will be organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and leading energy businesses. This will be the first time Gastech is held in Thailand and will provide an opportunity to highlight the country’s strengths in energy policy, clean technology, and its growing role as a regional energy hub.
By participating in Gastech 2025, the ERC not only strengthened international cooperation but also gained valuable insights from global regulatory practices. These efforts will support the successful hosting of Gastech 2026, attract new investment, and raise Thailand’s profile in the global energy industry in a sustainable and forward-looking manner.
