Eighteen more people to be summoned by NCPO next week

BANGKOK, 6 June 2014 – Eighteen more individuals are set to be summoned by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) next week mostly on lese-majeste charges.

According to the NCPO’s 49th order, 18 people have allegedly violated Section 112 of the Criminal Code. Among these 18 who were accused included Giles Ungpakorn, Jakrapop Penkhae, Ekapop Leura aka “Tang Acheewa”, and Chatwadee “Rose” Amornpat.

All who have been summoned must report to the Army auditorium by midday on June 9. Refusal to comply would result in face a jail term of up to 2 years or a fine of up to 40,000 baht, or both.

The NCPO had stated that additional individuals needed to be summoned to the Army, as they were directly and indirectly involved in the violence and unrest in the country. These people have so far included Bannaphot Damapong, the step-brother of Khunying Potjaman na Pombejra, and anti-coup leader Sombat Boonngamanong.
