EC might order for removal of 50 pieces of defamatory online content


Bangkok – The Election Commission (EC) is yet to consider having 50 pieces of defamatory online content removed.

EC Secretary General Jarungwit Phumma visited the electronic campaign management center to assess clues and complaints about alleged election fraud and monitor news related to electoral campaigns of various parties.

The center watches out for online defamation of electoral candidates and political parties with false statements under Section 73 (5) of the MP Election Act. The EC can order those who may have posted defamatory content to remove them.

He said the EC will consider ordering the removal of the 50 recent defamatory postings.
