BANGKOK, Thailand – Authorities continue their efforts to uncover the truth behind the collapse of the State Audit Office (SAO) building during the historic earthquake that originated in Myanmar and shook several provinces in Thailand.

The tremor caused the collapse of the SAO building, a high-rise structure still under construction, prompting an investigation into possible corruption within the government agency overseeing the project.



Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Phumtham Wechayachai addressed the latest meeting held to monitor the progress of the SAO building collapse case. He said that, based on available information, Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra had called in Minister of Justice Tawee Sodsong, overseeing the Department of Special Investigation, to follow up on developments in the case, which has reportedly made considerable progress. Initial reports have outlined some of the actions taken so far.


Minister Phumtham noted that the investigation is gradually progressing, with multiple parties now being questioned.
