Deputy PM Phumtham Wechayachai joins national leaders in prayer and alms-offering ceremonies marking Her Majesty Queen Sirikit’s birthday anniversary.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai led a series of Buddhist rites at Sanam Luang in Bangkok Tuesday morning (Aug 12) to honor Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, on her birthday anniversary.

The ceremony, which began at 7:30 a.m., featured a Buddhist prayer session followed by an alms-offering to monks, dedicated as a royal merit to Her Majesty. Senior figures from government, the armed forces, and the private sector attended, underscoring the national significance of the occasion.



Among those present were members of the Privy Council, the President of the Senate representing the National Assembly, the President of the Supreme Court, heads of constitutional organizations, cabinet ministers, the Bangkok Governor, commanders-in-chief of the armed forces, the Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, senior officials, and their spouses.

Participants, including Prime Minister and Culture Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, took part in the proceedings as a tribute to The Queen Mother’s decades of service to the nation. The ceremony is among a series of nationwide celebrations taking place today, August 12, to honor her birthday anniversary. (NNT)
