Defense Ministry denies social media claims, reaffirms humanitarian handling of Cambodian soldiers

Thailand refutes false reports of derogatory remarks; confirms peaceful custody, care, and respectful repatriation of Cambodian troops who crossed the border.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Ministry of Defense affirms: “No derogatory remarks were made against Cambodia” as falsely circulated on social media.

The Deputy Minister of Defense has never given any interview as claimed online!

The facts are as follows:

  1. Eighteen armed Cambodian soldiers crossed into Thai territory. They surrendered peacefully to Thai forces without resistance.



  1. The Thai military took them into custody in accordance with military protocol and provided basic humanitarian care, including food, water, and medical assistance.

 

  1. Injured individuals received proper medical treatment. In cases of fatalities, remains were respectfully repatriated to their home country.



  1. Thailand maintains a firm position: “Sovereignty must be upheld. No intrusions will be tolerated.” However, all actions are carried out in line with humanitarian principles — without excessive force. (NNT)
