DDPM aids flood victims while 7 provinces remain flooded

BANGKOK, 17 September 2014 -The DDPM is aiding flood victims continuously while seven provinces remain flooded.

The Director-General of DDPM, Chatchai Promlert, has announced that heavy rain on 15th-16th September, caused flooding in three provinces: Ranong, Trat, and Prachinburi. However, the situation in Ranong has now eased, even though rain has been falling frequently, meaning the situation has to be closely observed for emergency situations. In Trat, the water level has decreased and life is also expected to return to normal in Prachinburi.

As for the flood situations in Sukhothai, Pichit, and Phitsanulok, overall the water has continued to decrease, while the water level in Chao Phraya River has risen and caused flooding in two districts in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, namely Sena and Phak Hai districts. Recently, the water level there has also decreased. As a result, the rescue of victims has been expedited, and a damage survey has been made, including repair of infrastructure and restoration of public utilities. Victims are able to report problems and request help on 1784, 24/7.
