BANGKOK, Thailand – Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthumpun traveled to Sisaket province today (Oct 18) to advance border trade development and support local economic activity. The visit included meetings with agricultural groups, inspections of government support programs, and the launch of two public fairs aimed at easing household expenses and creating more opportunities for small producers.

In the morning, Minister Suphajee opened the “Green Flag Fair—Affordable Prices for Fertilizer and Quality Agrochemicals” at the BAAC Agricultural Marketing Cooperative. The event offered discounted agricultural inputs to help farmers lower production costs, along with expert advice on marketing and sustainable farming practices.

In the afternoon, she presided over the launch of the “Blue Flag Relief and Border Economic Stimulation Fair,” held in front of Sisaket Provincial Hall and running through October 19. The fair features low-cost essential goods, Geographical Indication (GI) products such as Sisaket Jasmine Rice, and local items from all districts, supporting both consumers and small-scale sellers.

To extend the program’s reach, the Ministry of Commerce deployed “Mobile Blue Flag” trucks to Kantharalak, Khun Han, and Phu Sing, ensuring broader access to discounted goods over the three-day period.

Minister Suphajee also announced the government’s intention to promote Sisaket as a hub for cross-border trade and high-quality agricultural products. Continued support for rural producers and regional commerce is expected to drive economic growth and improve livelihoods in Thailand’s border provinces. (NNT)
