Chonburi opens immigrant workers registration center

CHONBURI – Chonburi Province officially opens the province’s registration center for migrant workers from neighbouring countries, allowing registered workers to reside in the kingdom for an additional two years.

Chonburi Provincial Fisheries Official Bancha Sookkaew has revealed that a One Stop Service Center for the registration of migrant workers from Myanmar, Laos, and Cambodia has begun operating at Laem Chabang Municipality Civic Center, Chonburi.

The center is providing registration service according to the Cabinet’s resolution which allows workers, whose permit expire on 31 March 2016, to receive a 2-year work permit extension. After registration, the new permit will expire on 31 March 2018.

Employers are asked to bring their employees from eligible countries for registration, starting from today until 29 July 2016.

Chonburi’s Command Centre to Combat Illegal Fishing has registered 510 fishing boats with 6,140 crew members. As of March 2016, it has received port-in reports from 6,147 boats with 75,820 crews, and port-out reports from 6,600 boats and 77,445 crews.
