BANGKOK, Thailand — Police detained a Chinese man after he allegedly went into a violent frenzy, held a 10-inch knife to his own neck and threatened to harm himself inside an apartment in Bangkok’s Huai Khwang district. Sutthisan police were alerted at about 11:10 a.m. on Sept. 1 to reports of a foreign man allegedly assaulting a woman inside a room at an apartment in Sam Sen Nok subdistrict.
When officers arrived, they found the 24-year-old Thai woman, identified as Phetcharaphon, inside the room with the Chinese man, identified as Mr Wang. Police said Wang was in a highly agitated state, waving a 10-inch knife and holding it against his own neck while threatening to harm himself.
Officers managed to bring the situation under control safely before searching the room. They found about 0.30 grams of crystal methamphetamine, along with drug-use equipment, a cream-colored box and the knife.
Police initially charged Wang and Phetcharaphon with jointly possessing a Category 1 narcotic, methamphetamine, without permission. Wang was also charged with entering and remaining in Thailand without permission. Both suspects were informed of their legal rights and handed over to Sutthisan police investigators for further legal proceedings.
