On the night of October 16, hospital staff struggled to transfer a critical heart patient to a hospital in Krabi, only to be blocked by a brown Toyota pickup truck belonging to another patient’s family.
According to hospital statements, the truck was parked directly behind the ambulance, preventing staff from loading the patient. Staff attempted to get the vehicle moved, but the driver and accompanying family member refused, arguing over perceived neglect of their relative, who was suffering only from mild dizziness. Meanwhile, another family member of the heart patient knelt and pleaded for the truck to be moved so the critically ill patient could be transferred—but the delay proved fatal.
Though the truck was eventually moved, the heart patient could not be saved. The elderly passenger with the pickup was later cleared of serious illness and sent home.
