Chaikasem Nitisiri reaffirms good health and says he’s ready to step up as PM — but only if the country truly needs him.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Amid intensifying political pressure on Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra to step down, attention is turning to Chaikasem Nitisiri, the Pheu Thai Party’s third-ranked prime ministerial candidate. Once the subject of health concerns, Chaikasem recently appeared in good spirits, even seen playing golf — a sign of regained strength.

Speaking in an interview on Inside Thailand aired on MCOT HD, the former attorney-general confirmed, “I’m fully recovered now. The blood clot at the back of my head has completely dissolved. My doctor said it was incredibly lucky. I played a full round of golf yesterday without any issues. I’m happy and healthy again.”

When asked whether he is ready to take on the role of prime minister, Chaikasem replied, “There’s no need for me to do it. If it can be avoided, let someone else take the job. I’ve done a lot already. But if it’s truly necessary for the country, I’m ready. I have no problem with it. Let the younger generation take the lead, but if the country needs me, I’ll do it.” (TNA)
