SA KAEO (TNA) – Cambodian Health Minister Mam Bunheng inspected measures to screen out the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-2019) at the border checkpoint of Aranyaprathet district in Sa Kaeo province and promised bilateral cooperation to fight the disease.

Aranyaprathet district chief Sawanit Suriyakul Na Ayutthaya and other local authorities welcomed Mr Mam at the Aranyaprathet checkpoint at noon.

The delegation of the Cambodian health minister crossed the border on a Thai-Cambodian friendship bridge from the Poipet town of Cambodia to see Thai officials’ action to curb Covid-19 in the border area. Their arrival interested Thai and foreign tourists who were crossing the border to Thailand there.

Thai authorities showed the delegation of Mr Mam the screening procedures by Thai officials at the Aranyaprathet immigration checkpoint. The Cambodian health minister paid special attention to thermal scan equipment installed at the checkpoint. All visitors were required to walk through the thermal scan zone. Those with a fever will be examined at an isolation room before being sent to Aranyaprathet Hospital.

Mr Sawanit, the Aranyaprathet district chief, said Mr Mam crossed the border to Aranyaprathet after inspecting screenings at the adjacent Poipet immigration checkpoint. The Cambodian health minister inquired in detail about the screening procedures and other Covid-19 control measures implemented by Thai officials, Mr Sawanit said.

He quoted Mr Mam as promising to cooperate with Thailand on the detection of Covid-19 patients and to exchange relevant information useful for the disease control. (TNA)
