Maj. Gen. Winthai Suwaree warns Cambodia shows no sign of ceasefire, continues heavy rocket attacks on Thai soil; Thai army vows full counteroffensive to protect civilians and national sovereignty.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Major General Winthai Suwaree, spokesperson for the Royal Thai Army, reported on July 27 that the Cambodian military shows no intention of ceasing fire. Instead, they continue to reinforce their heavy weaponry, including rockets such as the PHL-03, RM-70, and BM-21, targeting civilian areas. Notably, artillery shells struck the Ban Sam Meng Subdistrict Health Promoting Hospital in Sao Thong Chai Subdistrict, Kantharalak District, Sisaket Province, causing significant damage to the building. Fortunately, no casualties occurred, as patients had been evacuated earlier.

Maj. Gen. Winthai emphasized that Cambodia’s continuous use of all types of weapons demonstrates they cannot be trusted. Thai forces remain fully committed to defending against aggressors, conducting full-scale counterattacks. The army’s response focuses strictly on military targets that pose threats to national security and the safety of Thai citizens, following international laws and protocols.

He noted that Cambodian forces continue to engage in distant rocket artillery attacks across multiple points along the border, including in Surin Province, with many projectiles falling outside intended military zones but still posing risks to civilians. The Thai military must respond militarily to these persistent attacks to protect the people from harm.

There are also reports suggesting Cambodia may be receiving additional support of advanced weapons such as PHL-03, RM-70, and BM-21 rocket launchers, further raising concerns over Cambodia’s unwillingness to de-escalate the conflict.

The Royal Thai Army is determined to utilize its full capabilities to repel invasions and safeguard Thai sovereignty, ensuring the protection of life and property while adhering to international standards. The army’s operations continue to prioritize the neutralization of legitimate military threats, avoiding harm to civilians wherever possible.
