BANGKOK – The Cabinet has approved the maintenance of tax privileges for people investing in the Long Term Equity Fund (LTF) for another three years.

Minister of Finance Apisak Tantivorawong announced that the green light was granted during today’s Cabinet meeting, which was chaired by Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, to his Ministry’s proposal to extend LTF benefits for three more years from the previous deadline set for the end of 2016. The objective of the extension is to promote long-term saving and build confidence among investors.

The Cabinet also agreed to an adjustment of the minimum holding period, increasing it from five years to seven years. Under the condition, investors will be allowed to make their purchase on December 31st of the first year and sell their holdings on January 1st of the seventh year.
