BANGKOK, Thailand – FIFA is preparing for the 2026 World Cup with opening ceremonies planned across the tournament’s three host nations—the United States, Canada, and Mexico—alongside the competition’s expanded 48-team format.

Reports indicate that Thai singer Lalisa “Lisa” Manobal of BLACKPINK is expected to perform during the United States opening ceremony at SoFi Stadium near Los Angeles on June 12 before the match between the United States and Paraguay. The event is also expected to feature Katy Perry, rapper Future, DJ Sanjoy, and Paraguayan artist Mirilina Bogado.

The tournament’s first opening ceremony is scheduled for June 11 at Estadio Azteca before Mexico faces South Africa. Expected performers in Mexico include Maná, Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, and South African singer Tyla. Canada’s ceremony in Toronto on June 12, ahead of the Canada-Bosnia and Herzegovina match, is expected to include Michael Bublé, Alanis Morissette, and Alessia Cara.

FIFA is reportedly planning for each ceremony to begin about 90 minutes before kickoff, with performances in Mexico lasting around 16 minutes and ceremonies in the United States and Canada running about 13 minutes each. Organizers are also preparing an “America 250” celebration tied to the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence during the Round of 16 matches scheduled for July 4, 2026, in Philadelphia and Houston.
