Bhumjaithai Party withdraws from coalition; demands PM Paethongtarn take responsibility over controversial Cambodia call scandal.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Bhumjaithai Party issued a formal statement announcing its decision to withdraw from the ruling coalition government on June 18, at 8:40 PM. This decision follows public revelations about a controversial phone call between Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister of Thailand, and Samdech Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Senate, which has raised serious concerns over Thailand’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national interests.

The party’s executive committee convened to discuss the incident and reached a consensus to leave the government. All ministers representing Bhumjaithai have submitted their resignations to the Prime Minister, effective June 19.

The Bhumjaithai Party also called on Prime Minister Paethongtarn Shinawatra to take responsibility for the damage caused to Thailand’s dignity, national pride, the people, and the armed forces by this incident.

Furthermore, the party pledged its full support to the Thai military and government officials tasked with safeguarding Thailand’s sovereignty, territory, and national interests by all means necessary.
