BANGKOK, Thailand – Bangkok will open 255 “BKK Cooling Centers” across all 50 districts from mid-March through April 2026 to help residents cope with extreme heat and reduce the risk of heat-related illnesses, including heatstroke. The centers will operate daily from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., offering temporary relief during peak daytime temperatures.
The locations include 50 district offices, 69 public health service centers, 51 Bangkok Metropolitan Administration schools, 10 vocational training schools, and 75 facilities under the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, such as recreation centers, sports centers, and public libraries. Each site will provide free drinking water, seating and rest areas, basic medicines, first-aid supplies, and emergency assistance support.
The program, held annually, is expected to be widely enjoyed by elderly residents, children, people with chronic conditions, outdoor workers, and others affected by high temperatures. Visitors are asked to bring an identification card for registration before using the service. Details on participating locations can be found at https://greener.bangkok.go.th/heat-escape-room/#info.
