Bangkok to close road, MRT station on Nov 16-19 for APEC Summit

National police chief Damrongsak Kittiprapas said the cabinet approved special holidays from Nov 16 to 18 in Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan and would also impose the holidays on the private sector and schools.

Police will close Ratchadaphisek Road in front of the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center and its MRT station in Bangkok from Nov 16 to 19 to facilitate the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.

National police chief Damrongsak Kittiprapas said the cabinet approved special holidays from Nov 16 to 18 in Bangkok, Nonthaburi and Samut Prakan and would also impose the holidays on the private sector and schools.



Meanwhile, the police would close Ratchadaphisek Road in front of the convention center and the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center MRT station from Nov 16 to 19 for safety sake. Six shuttle buses would be deployed to serve the people who lived or worked in the area, Pol Gen Damrongsak said.

The government and the police were monitoring situations closely and people could report any untoward incidents to police around the clock at the hotline numbers 191 and 1599. Those who give useful information will be rewarded, the national police chief said. (TNA)
