BANGKOK, Thailand – Police in Bangkok’s Wang Thonglang district inspected nine entertainment venues late on October 15, focusing on underage customers, drugs, weapons and compliance with nightlife regulations. Pol Col Jessada Yangnok, superintendent of Wang Thonglang Police Station, led officers alongside the S.W.A.T. team from Metropolitan Police Division 4 in checks covering three areas: Rama 9 Road, Soi Mahat Thai and Town in Town. The operation targeted nine venues: The Galaxy, Prim, Tasty, Loft Two Bar, Library, Wake Up, Say Yes, Rong Lao Mahat Thai and Lamoe.

Officers instructed security staff to check identification cards belonging to customers and employees, searched for weapons and illegal items, and checked compliance with legally permitted operating hours. The operation also aimed to prevent human trafficking and prostitution.

Police conducted random urine tests on 45 customers to screen for illegal drugs. No drugs or other offences were detected during the checks, according to the report.

Officers also reminded operators to maintain valid licenses and strictly enforce the minimum entry age of 20. Venues were told not to allow drug use, prostitution or weapons on their premises and to comply with legal restrictions on alcohol sales and noise levels.  Operators were further instructed to prevent fights and disturbances both inside and outside their establishments.

Members of the public who have information about illegal activities can contact Wang Thonglang Police Station on 02-184-4339 or call the police emergency hotline at 191, available 24 hours a day.
