BANGKOK, Thailand – Bangkok Kunsthalle is hosting “Gift to Entropy,” a solo installation art exhibition by Italian artist Renato Leotta, from October 30 to December 30, 2026. Curated by Stefano Rabolli Pansera as part of an artist-in-residence program, the exhibition welcomes visitors Wednesday through Sunday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The exhibition showcases two primary installations that examine how matter changes over time through natural forces. The first centerpiece features a stack of old aluminum cases holding 16 mm films of extreme close-ups of flowers, intentionally locked away from view to evoke the unseen fragrance of the blooms. The second installation displays historical folded red paper sheets, originally used for Chinese New Year couplets, suspended inside a tall plexiglass case where gravity slowly pulls the paper downward without ever fully removing its original creases.

Leotta created these works to investigate the boundary between potentiality and entropy, capturing objects in a perpetual state of transformation rather than presenting fixed, finished forms.

By leaving the floral films sealed and allowing the paper to unfold infinitely without reaching absolute flatness, the artist demonstrates how natural elements like light and gravity act as creative forces. The showcase serves to reveal the hidden possibilities within matter while offering a prefiguration for Leotta’s upcoming residency project at Khao Yai Art Forest. (NNT)
