BANGKOK, Thailand – The highly anticipated Bangkok Jewelry Week 2024 has officially begun, marking a significant step in establishing Bangkok as a global destination for gems and jewelry. Hosted by the Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT), the event takes place at Ming Muang Plaza, The Old Siam Plaza, and showcases the rich heritage of the city’s gem and jewelry trade. The event spans iconic areas in Bangkok, including Bang Rak, Samphanthawong, and Phra Nakhon districts, long known for their historical and economic importance.

Commerce Minister Pichai Naripthaphan, presiding over the opening ceremony, emphasized that the event aims to put Bangkok on the map as a premier hub for gem and jewelry enthusiasts. The “Jewelry and Gemstone Tourism Route” seeks to attract tourists and consumers worldwide, promoting the craftsmanship and cultural significance of Thailand’s jewelry industry. Minister Pichai highlighted the importance of the “Buy With Confidence” certification program, which guarantees quality assurance from GIT, ensuring buyers can trust the authenticity and quality of their purchases.



The event represents a collaborative effort between the public and private sectors. Major industry players are mentoring small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to create opportunities for new and regional businesses to showcase their products. Attendees can also participate in workshops, exclusive tours of jewelry factories, and exhibitions that highlight the expertise behind Thai jewelry-making. These activities aim to enhance economic value and foster sustainable growth in the gem and jewelry sector.
