Thai and Cambodian authorities agree to open a temporary border crossing at Sa Kaeo, allowing stranded citizens to return home safely amid escalating border tensions.

SA KAEO, Thailand – Thai military and border police officials have coordinated with Cambodian authorities to open a temporary border checkpoint at Ban Klong Luek, Aranyaprathet district, from 10:30 AM to 4:00 PM on July 25. This measure allows stranded Thai and Cambodian nationals to cross safely amid fears that the ongoing border conflict may escalate.

The opening follows reports of Cambodian attacks on Thais in Poipet during the previous night, causing alarm among those still stranded in Cambodia. Many Thais gathered early this morning at the border checkpoint awaiting passage amid rumors and uncertainty over the situation.

Cambodian officials have also requested a temporary crossing to enable their nationals stranded in Thailand to return home. Both sides agreed on the temporary opening to ease civilian movement.

Interviews with Cambodian workers returning home revealed that many have worked in Thailand for years but decided to return due to fears the conflict could worsen. They confirmed their intention to return to work in Thailand once the situation stabilizes.

Meanwhile, Thai authorities continue to maintain a strong presence along the border with additional checkpoints to ensure public safety and manage the temporary crossing smoothly.

Recent attacks on Thai nationals in Cambodia have heightened fears of escalating violence, prompting urgent measures to protect civilians and facilitate safe returns.
