
BANGKOK, Thailand – The Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Mr. Elnur Mammadov, met with the Chairman and executives of Thailand’s MCOT Public Company Limited (MCOT) here on Thursday to exchange views on the media landscape and discuss strengthening bilateral relations.
Mammadov, accompanied by Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Thailand, H.E. Mr. Elchin Ragub oglu Bashirov, and embassy officials, paid a courtesy call on Associate Professor Issara Sereewatthanawut, Chairman of the MCOT’s Board of Director, and the company’s executive board. The delegation’s visit to Thailand is part of the official opening of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Bangkok.
During the discussion, MCOT Chairman Seriwatthanawut briefed the Azerbaijani delegation on the history and business operations of MCOT, highlighting its transition into the current digital media era. He emphasized that MCOT, as a leading national broadcaster, remains committed to its mission of disseminating neutral and accurate information and news to audiences both domestically and internationally.
Mammadov, drawing on his previous experience in the telecommunications sector, acknowledged the challenges faced by the media business. He praised MCOT’s work and offered his encouragement.
The Deputy Foreign Minister stated that the primary objective of his visit to Thailand is to enhance relations across various sectors, including politics, trade, economy, investment, and tourism. Mammadov particularly stressed the importance of fostering stronger people-to-people ties, especially through the exchange of information and news. He also expressed hope that Thailand would establish a permanent embassy in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. (TNA)
