Anutin Charnvirakul confirms no reopening of crossings with Cambodia as authorities maintain strict border control, arrest over 3,200 illegal entries, and seize major drug and smuggling cases.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has reaffirmed that no additional border crossings with Cambodia will reopen at this time amid ongoing security operations along the border.

Authorities said military personnel, police, and administrative agencies have spent the past four months conducting operations to maintain order and protect national sovereignty in border areas. According to border defense forces, border patrol police, administrative authorities, and village security units, officials have arrested more than 3,200 people attempting to cross the border illegally.

Officials also reported the seizure of more than 1.5 million methamphetamine pills in major narcotics cases, along with more than 150 legal cases involving smuggled and tax-evading goods. Authorities also carried out 45 operations targeting illegal logging networks near the border.

The government said border crossings will remain prohibited while authorities continue strict monitoring of natural routes to prevent drug trafficking, smuggling, and other cross-border crimes. Agencies are also conducting 24-hour ground patrols and drone surveillance to monitor border activity and ensure public safety. (NNT)
