
KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul held bilateral talks with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to strengthen Thai–Australian relations and enhance cooperation in trade, investment, and strategic partnership development.
Prime Minister Anutin expressed appreciation for Prime Minister Albanese’s congratulatory message upon his assumption of office, noting the close and constructive relationship between the two nations. On this occasion, he extended an invitation for the Australian leader to make an official visit to Thailand at a mutually convenient time.
Prime Minister Albanese conveyed his condolences on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and congratulated Anutin again on his appointment, as well as on the recent signing of the joint statement between Thailand and Cambodia, which he said would contribute to peace and stability in the region.
Both sides agreed to advance the Thailand–Australia Strategic Partnership and expedite the completion of the new Joint Plan of Action (2026–2029) to strengthen cooperation under the partnership framework. They also pledged to boost trade and investment by maximizing the benefits of free trade agreements such as TAFTA and RCEP, while expanding collaboration in biological sciences, food security, renewable and clean energy, and education and tourism exchanges.
