BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul has presided over the 60th anniversary of the Nine Chinese Associations, emphasizing the transition of Thai-Chinese relations toward a modern strategic partnership centered on future technologies. On September 6, the Prime Minister addressed attendees at the Teochew Association of Thailand in Bangkok, joined by Wu Zhiwu, Charge d’Affaires of the Chinese Embassy, and Chinese Associations President Somchai Vetchakorn.
After a moment of silence for Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati, the Prime Minister commended the associations for six decades of contributions to Thailand’s socioeconomic development and for strengthening ties between the two nations.
Reflecting on his official visit to China in July 2026, the Prime Minister stated that President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang regard Thailand as a trusted strategic partner and close family. He emphasized that future cooperation will focus on the new economy, including artificial intelligence, advanced trade, and emerging industries. This commitment is demonstrated by the recent signing of 15 memorandums of understanding and the opening of a Board of Investment office in Chengdu to support collaboration in semiconductors, robotics, electric vehicles, and clean energy.
Anutin outlined his vision for the associations to connect younger generations, modern businesses, and new technologies. He encouraged Chinese youth to see Thailand as a leading destination for investment, innovation, and tourism. The Prime Minister concluded by affirming that the long-standing brotherhood between the two nations has become a strong, forward-looking partnership committed to shared prosperity. (NNT)
