Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul urged Russian businesses to invest in Thailand, positioning the country as a gateway to ASEAN while outlining plans to boost trade, investment, and economic cooperation.
KAZAN, Russia – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul promoted Thailand as a strategic gateway to ASEAN during the ASEAN-Russia Business Forum in Kazan, inviting Russian businesses to use the country as a base for accessing the regional market of more than 700 million people. Addressing business leaders, Anutin said Thailand is restructuring its economy and streamlining regulations to create new economic opportunities. He added that the government’s FastPass policy has helped attract the highest level of foreign direct investment in the past decade.
The prime minister outlined three priorities for expanding Thailand-Russia economic cooperation, involving connectivity, trade and investment, and people-to-people exchanges. Anutin said Thailand is well positioned in infrastructure, logistics, and digital capabilities and reiterated support for advancing negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement between Thailand and the Eurasian Economic Union to broaden future economic opportunities. The premier also called for closer cooperation in tourism, healthcare, the creative economy, and cultural exchanges. He said the 130th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Russia in 2027 will provide an opportunity to further deepen economic ties and promote sustainable development between the two countries.
