SYDNEY, Australia – Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul met with executives of graphic design platform Canva at its headquarters to discuss collaboration on driving Thailand’s creative economy and bringing Thai talent to global markets. Anutin met with Canva Co-founder and Chief Operating Officer Cliff Obrecht, Southeast Asia CEO Willix Halim, and Thailand regional manager Pakapon Tangtongchin during a site visit. Discussions focused on integrating Thai local creators and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) onto Canva’s global platform. Canva aims to expand its count of Thai creators from around 190 to 1,000 by 2028, allowing local designers to generate income from worldwide platform usage.

Canva executives noted ongoing cooperation with Thai agencies, including the Department of Business Development and the Digital Economy Promotion Agency, to deliver digital, design, and AI training to domestic SMEs. The company is also collaborating with Thailand’s Ministry of Education on youth digital skills. Anutin invited Canva to consider incorporating a business entity in Thailand, expanding its operational base, and bringing international technical talent to work alongside Thai personnel. The Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) will work directly with Canva to explore investment frameworks and workforce development programs. (TNA)
