Bangkok – Bangkok city hall continues to be in hot news as another deputy governor, Taweesak Lertprapan, has resigned and removed his documents from the office, while the city governor has immediately announced the replacement for two vacant deputy governor positions.

Lertprapan submitted his letter to quit soon after the resignation of another deputy governor, Jakkapan Phiewngam. Alleged procurement irregularities of waste incinerator projects are speculated to be the cause of these resignations. Opposition parties are now prepared to bring up this issue in parliament.

Minister of Interior Gen Anupong Paojinda said the auction of the 1.3 billion baht garbage incineration plants in Nong Khaem and On Nut went through verification from committees at several stages, including a central committee chaired by the Ministry of Interior’s permanent secretary. The minister said he is not concerned with this matter and is positive there is no corruption involved.
